Understanding the furniture of an apartment or a house as a fundamental part of the interior design process makes a radical difference in the conceptualization of a space.
Each piece, well chosen, contributes to giving the space a completely different character, and can blend in with the rest of the finishes or break with them to become a landmark or an accent within it.
In this way, the space you inhabit, or in which you work, becomes an experience that goes beyond the functional, like when you walk and explore an art gallery. Each piece of furniture and each ornamental object brings energy to the space, which together with the rest, generates an atmosphere that makes each room unique. There will be as many atmospheres as there are personalities, and the magic of making your home something your own and unique is what becomes one of the designer’s main tasks.
In this article we bring you a selection of three iconic pieces of furniture that we have chosen from AN-NA Studio for the EF Apartment, among many others that make up the design of the apartment. Three pieces with history that dress each space, giving it a unique character:
1. POLTRONA UP – GAETANO PESCE – B&B ITALIA
This piece by architect Gaetano Pesce, designed in 1969, is a historical icon not only for its voluptuous shapes but also for the history behind it.
Born in La Spezia in 1939, Pesce studied architecture at the University of Venice and wrote in his youth a manifesto in defense of the right to incoherence in art, the need to change, to be free, to not repeat ourselves. The boundaries between art, design and industry become irrelevant in its production, turning art into a product in itself, as a creative response to the needs of the times in which we live.
The Up5_6 armchair, from the Up series, made up of seven examples of seats with voluptuous shapes, becomes the first industrial design product called to transmit a political message: denouncing the condition of women in the world.

2. SILLA MINI PAPILIO – NAOTO FUKASAWA – B&B ITALIA
Naoto Fukasawa is a Japanese industrial designer, born in Yamanashi, in 1956; Graduated from Tama Art University, he is considered by many to be the greatest living industrial designer. Through his work and ingenuity he has developed thousands of objects that are currently living legends of design.
The Mini Papilio chair is one of his designs for the B&B Italia brand, which was born in parallel with the Love Papilio sofa. With smaller proportions than its larger counterpart, it has gone from an armchair to a small armchair that is easy to use even in smaller environments, suitable for decorating a public space, highlighting its features as a swivel seat, in a traditional way with 360º rotation or with return automatic.

Sacha Lakic is the designer of this very special Roche Bobois piece. Passionate about cutting-edge technology, he has made ambitious creations of futuristic motorcycles and automobiles and we find in each of his creations the combination of flexibility and dynamism of forms.
In the design of sofas such as Bubble and Perspective, iconic models of the firm, it fuses rigor and sensuality, rational and passionate thinking.
